- Dry Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder
- Wet Ingredients:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ cup milk or almond milk
- Apple Mixture:
- 2 large apples, peeled and chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Brown Sugar/Cinnamon Mixture:
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1-3 tablespoons milk or cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Toss the chopped apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon in another bowl.
- Cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer half of the apple mixture over it, then sprinkle half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining batter, apples, and brown sugar mixture. Swirl the mixture using a knife.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the loaf cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Mix powdered sugar with milk or cream for the glaze. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
