Recipe: Soft Homemade Biscuits
Introduction:
These soft, fluffy homemade biscuits are perfect for breakfast or as a side dish for any meal. Made with simple ingredients, these biscuits come together quickly, and their golden, flaky texture makes them a hit with everyone.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
3/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with a tablespoon of vinegar)
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cut in the Butter: Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces of butter.
Add the Buttermilk: Pour in the buttermilk and stir gently until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Shape the Biscuits: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently press the dough into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Fold the dough over onto itself a few times to create layers, then cut out biscuits using a round cutter or a glass.
Bake: Place the biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are touching each other for soft edges. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden
